Engagement survey software compared

For an HR lead or a founder choosing how to survey a whole organization once or twice a year. Facets’ engagement cycles beside eight suites, row by row: how small a group is shown, what comes with the scores, what happens after the results, and the published prices.

Checked against each vendor’s public pages on . Sources at the foot.

What to compare

Whichever tool you choose, check these before you sign.

  • The smallest group shown, and when it is set. A group's results should appear only once enough people have answered that nobody can be picked out. Ask whether the number is fixed before people answer, and who may change it afterward.
  • Whether a hidden group can be worked out. If a division's total is shown and all but one of its teams are too, the missing team can be found by subtraction. Ask whether the tool hides a second group when that would happen.
  • A range beside every score. A small group's average moves a long way by chance. Without a margin of error beside it, a difference of a few tenths between two teams reads as real when it may be noise.
  • What happens after the results. Suggestions are easy to produce. Ask what a manager does next, whether the team takes part, and whether anyone asks later how it went.
  • The unit you pay in. Prices come per person a month, as a yearly fee or per survey. Work out a year's total for your headcount and for the number of surveys you will run.
  • Who reads what. Find out whether managers see their own group, whether that is decided before anyone answers, and whether written answers are ever shown as written.

Two cycles in a year at 100 people cost $999 and $599, $1,598 in all: about $1.33 a person a month.

Each price is printed in the vendor’s own unit, as published. We do not convert one into another, so compare totals for your own headcount and the number of surveys you will run.

Where Facets is different

  • Priced per cycle, by headcount band, and published. An engagement cycle is priced once per survey of the whole organization, by headcount: from $999 up to 100 employees to $9,499 up to 2,500. A second cycle in the same calendar year is 60% of list.
  • A range on every score, and change marked only when it is reliable. Every group's score carries a 95% range showing how far it could move by chance. From the second cycle, each group's movement since the last one is marked only when it is reliable, so a small shift in a small group is not read as news.
  • Small groups hidden, including by subtraction. A group appears once 5 people have answered: a floor you may raise to 50 when you set up the cycle, fixed once it opens (at an organization's written request, Facets can lower it for a single cycle before it opens, and everyone invited sees the floor in force before answering). A group that could be worked out by subtraction is hidden too. Answers are confidential, not anonymous: each is linked to the person who gave it, and nobody with an account reads another person's answers as written.
  • The same core statements as the team survey. A cycle asks the same 34 core climate statements the team survey uses, about the team each person works in, then 6 questions about their own work and the organization. A unit's climate numbers mean the same thing in either product.
  • A manager's own group, and a conversation with the team. Where a cycle said so before anyone answered, a manager sees their own group's numbers and the organization total once the group clears the floor. Then a manager whose group is published can hold a 30-minute guided team conversation, choosing from a library of 27 cited options, with the team's commitments checked at 6 weeks. Since 29 October 2026, the written summary of a cycle's results has options from the same library beneath it.

When another tool fits better

Where each of these may suit you better, from what its own pages say.

  • Culture Amp. Culture Amp sends survey invitations and reminders through Slack and Microsoft Teams, for a company that works in either. It compares your results with other organizations in its benchmark database. Its help center lists many survey languages, which suits a workforce that does not share one.
  • Lattice. Lattice sets engagement scores beside benchmarks built on Mercer data. Employees can answer surveys in its iOS and Android apps, and notices reach Slack and Microsoft Teams.
  • 15Five. 15Five ranks your scores as a percentile against other organizations in its benchmark. Employees can answer surveys in its mobile app, and notices go out by Slack and SMS.
  • Leapsome. Leapsome offers a 14-day free trial and surveys in 38 languages. Its Engagement module includes industry benchmarks.
  • Workleap. Workleap Officevibe delivers surveys as private messages in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Its surveys come in 8 languages, and people can answer in its iOS and Android apps. It compares your scores with an industry benchmark.
  • Microsoft Viva Glint. Viva Glint suits a company already on Microsoft 365: it is added to an enterprise subscription, and survey notices reach Microsoft Teams. Its standard questions come in over 70 languages, and results can be compared with other industries.
  • Workday Peakon Employee Voice. Peakon collects feedback through Slack and Microsoft Teams and surveys in over 60 languages. It compares results with a large benchmarking dataset.
  • Qualtrics. Qualtrics reminds managers to create and complete their action plans. It compares results with large employee-experience benchmark sets, and one survey can run in several languages.

What Facets does not do

  • Facets surveys in English and Spanish only, one language a cycle; the Spanish was translated by a language model, back-translated and reconciled, not reviewed by a professional translator.
  • Nothing anyone answers goes to Slack or Microsoft Teams. A direct message carries only the person's own invitation link, and a channel is told only that a survey is open or closing, or that a manager's group's results are ready. Anyone may ask for email instead from any message.
  • Facets offers no external benchmarks, by decision: a benchmark sets you beside a sample you cannot inspect, so each group is compared with its own last cycle instead.
  • There are no onboarding or exit surveys.
  • There is no shorter pulse to run between cycles.

Questions

How much does engagement survey software cost per employee?
Vendors use different units, so compare a year's total for your headcount. Facets prices each cycle by headcount band. Two cycles in a year at 100 people cost $999 and $599, $1,598 in all: about $1.33 a person a month.
What is the minimum group size for an engagement survey?
Large enough that nobody can be picked out from a group's result. Facets hides any group under 5 respondents by default, a floor you may raise to 50, and any group that could be worked out by subtraction.
Are engagement survey results anonymous?
In Facets they are confidential, not anonymous. Each response is linked to the person who gave it, so they can finish later and answer only once, but nobody with an account can read another person's answers as written.
Can managers see their own team's engagement results?
In Facets, only when the cycle was set up that way before anyone answered. Then a manager sees their own group's numbers and the organization total once the group clears the floor, never an individual answer or anyone's words.
How can you tell a real change from noise?
Ask for a range beside each score and a test before any change is called real. Facets puts a 95% range on every group's score, and marks a change only when it is reliable and mostly the same people were invited both times.
